Editing
I offer freelance editing services for both beginning and experienced writers, drawing on my twenty-five+ years of experience in children's publishing. After working full-time as an editor at Random House, I continued to freelance edit Barbara Park's New York Times bestselling Junie B. Jones series for many years. In addition to working with individual authors, I have also edited curriculum materials for educational resources companies. I've taught children's book writing courses at Gotham Writers' Workshop and picture book writing workshops at The New School in NYC, and I am currently teaching and serving as the Writing for Young People genre chair at Lesley University's low-residency MFA program.
For shorter projects (picture books, beginning readers, first chapter evaluations), my current rates are $150/hour with a one-hour minimum.
For early chapter books, my rates start at $1500, and vary depending on length, complexity, and other factors.
For novels, my rates start at $2500 and vary depending on length, complexity, and other factors.
